Ken Stamp, Trombonist
Ken Stamp was born in York in 1948 and started playing the cornet at 9 years old, moving on to the tenor horn, before teaching himself to play the trombone in 1972.
He has played trombone in a military band, dance band, ‘oompa’ band and pit orchestras. In 2002 he formed his own brass quintet called ‘Fanfare’, which played successfully for 18 years.
Ken is now a member of the ‘Shepherds’ concert band and the current solo champion.
Since 2008 Ken has raised over £30,000 for St.Leonard’s Hospice, undertaking around 20 fund raising events every year including Martin House and other charities.
