September/October 2015

Since the last update, much work has been carried out scrutinising and re-working the Schedules of Work for the buildings development. The Schedules have now been sent out to tender to the contractors on the updated tender list. To help reduce costs three amendments have been made – the new entrance will only require one set of doors rather than the two originally planned; the laying out of the patio area can be deferred; the pews at the back of the Church can stay as they are as there is no need to shorten them. There have been delays with Northern Powergrid but this is now progressing – though rather more slowly than we had hoped. Some things just cannot be hurried!

Timings have been lengthened. We realise that this is a frustrating time for us all but we know that all will be right. We are hopeful that decision making will be scheduled for mid-October.

The Grants team will shortly be processing further Grant applications. As I write this update, we are eagerly awaiting the outcome of the grant application to All Churches’ Trust.

So, in this time of waiting, there is still much to do.  Timescales are being reworked for the new building process. Fundraising is continuing. There is also something that everyone can do. Please continue to pray together for the building development and for our mission here in the community. With prayer we will be encouraged and empowered to go out and serve our neighbours and the community. With prayer, our vision for Boston Spa Methodist Church to be a flexible, accessible and welcoming place where church and community meet will become a reality.

Let’s use this time to be refreshed and continue on our journey. Let’s ensure that we are prepared for the busyness that will come with the beginning of the building works.

The Fundraising team has already planned some events but if you would like to organise an event, then please let Sheila Humphreys know. If you don’t want to organise an event, but would be willing to help out, please let us know. Your help at events is invaluable.

We are trying to plan events to suit a range of tastes so that that the Community will come along too. See the list of dates below.
