June 2015

Everything is moving at some pace as we go out to tender for the remodelling of the Church building. It really is an exciting time! But also quite nerve-wracking as we trust that everything all comes together at the right time!

The sale of the land adjacent to the Church has been approved by Church Council and the required deposit has been received.

We have instructed the Architect to proceed with detailed drawings and these are now complete. We are now awaiting a drainage survey and the electrical and lighting specification works brief.

A contractor tender list has been prepared and we are now working on timescales for the tender process. Extraordinary Church council meetings have been scheduled so that Church Council may be called to give their approval for the contracts to be accepted and for the build phase to begin.

The Reference Group has been consulted on issues including doors and security, floor coverings and colour schemes to mention a few, and we are always grateful for their views and ongoing support. We are also grateful to the ‘Monday grass-cutting Team who have been busily clearing bushes, shrubs, footpaths and other items in preparation for the work to begin.

Grant applications have been submitted and the Finance Team are now working towards reclaiming most of the VAT incurred from the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme.

Fundraising is also continuing. The Fundraising team has already planned some events but if you would like to organise an event, then please let Sheila Humphreys know. We are trying to plan events to suit a range of tastes so that that the Community will come along too. See the list of dates below.

You will by now have seen the new logo for our Church. T-shirts with the new logo have been ordered and should be delivered soon. See Sue Jakeman or Sheila Humphreys if you still haven’t ordered yours.

We are hoping that work might commence at the end of July but we shall keep you informed of the date and the what alternative arrangements may have to be made for Church users.
